Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has responded to talk of a potential rift between himself and Gunners captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling for form
Aubameyang is once again in the midst of a fairly poor patch of form.
The striker enjoyed a purple patch between gameweek four and gameweek nine of the Premier League season, which saw him score four and assist one.
However, since then, Aubameyang has not registered a single goal or assist in the league.
The 32-year-old’s latest appearance saw him taken off when Arsenal were 3-2 down against Manchester United and in need of a goal – a move that certainly appeared to hint that Arteta had little faith in his captain’s chances of rescuing a point for the north Londoners on the day.
Elsewhere, as per the Daily Mail, Arteta’s decision to haul Auba off ‘prompted comments from pundits Alan Shearer and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry that there must be a problem between the pair and the player had been humiliated’.
Arteta speaks out on talk of problem with Arsenal captain Aubameyang
In turn, ahead of his side’s meeting with Everton, Arteta has now spoken out on suggestions of a rift between himself and his captain.
The Spaniard, however, seemed keen to shut such talk down, stating:
“I can guarantee you that there is not a rift. You have to respect their opinion (Henry and Shearer’s) but what I can tell you is I have the relationship I want with him.
“When I make decisions with 15, 20, 30 minutes left, or in the line-up at the start, it is done with one intention and that is to get the best out of the team.”

With Man United looking back in form under new management, Arteta and co. will need Aubameyang to start firing on all cylinders once again very soon, if they are to stand any chance of securing that final Champions League spot this season.
