News has emerged on Sunday afternoon regarding a significant change at Everton Football Club.
Marcel Brands set to depart Everton
As reported by the Mirror, Toffees director of football Marcel Brands is leaving the club following a slump in form. It is added that Brands will depart his role with immediate effect.

At the time of writing, Everton sit 16th in the Premier League table, having lost four and drawn one of their last five outings. A win against Arsenal on Monday evening also looks unlikely for the Blues.
Marcel Brands made the move to Goodison Park as the club’s Director of Football in May of 2018.
Since then, Everton have spent a fair chunk of change over the course of several transfer windows.
The 2018/19 campaign would, as per transfermarket, see the Toffees spend £89.9m on transfers. This was followed by a transfer spend of over £108m in the 2019/20 campaign.
However, such an outlay has, as evidenced by the club’s current league position, not culminated in much success on the pitch.

What does this mean for Rafa Benitez?
With Brands set to step down, questions will surely be asked regarding Rafael Benitez’s future at the club.
Apart from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Spaniard has close to a fully fit squad to choose from, yet the Merseysiders are in an awful rut.
In turn, with a new Director of Football presumably set to arrive in the near future, could the individual chosen persuade the Everton owners to part with Benitez?
