Supporters of Premier League outfit Leeds United have taken to social media in their numbers on Sunday, to take aim at one particular member of the club’s squad.
Bees triumphant
Marcelo Bielsa’s side of course marked their return to action a short time ago.
On the back of a timely upturn in form of late, the Whites welcomed Thomas Frank’s Brentford to Elland Road, aware that a victory would guide them, at least temporarily, a full eight points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
When all was said and done on Sunday afternoon, however, Leeds, ultimately, were forced to make do with a share of the spoils.
It was the hosts who opened the scoring on the day, when Tyler Roberts slotted home Raphinha’s whipped delivery just inside the half-hour mark.

However, a major slip off the pace after the interval saw Bielsa and co. deservedly punished, as strikes on the part of Shandon Baptiste and Sergi Canos looked set to guide Brentford to all three points.
Deep into five minutes of injury-time, though, the returning Patrick Bamford, taking to the pitch for the first time since September, came up with the timeliest of equalisers, securing a share of the spoils for the hosts, and sending the Elland Road crowd into rapturous celebrations.
Firpo targeted
As alluded to above, however, on a day which, based on the manner of their eventual point, will no doubt be viewed as a positive one on behalf of all associated with the club, the Leeds faithful were nevertheless keen to make their frustrations with one player in particular crystal clear.
The star in question? Junior Firpo.
Summer arrival Firpo was handed his latest start on the left of Marcelo Bielsa’s backline on Sunday, and, throughout the majority of proceedings, held his own.
After playing a central role in Brentford’s go-ahead 2nd of the afternoon, however, the Whites faithful swiftly turned on their oft-criticised stopper, with just some of the frankly ruthless reaction from across social media showcased below:
I don’t even want to hear about junior firpo having “passion” again. He’s a liability!! #lufc

Firpo is not good enough, let’s not waste our time waiting for him to come good when he’s costing us points. Bad bad signing.
— Mellor (@MellorFootball) December 5, 2021
Firpo isn’t even a footballer
— Lee (@thisappiswild) December 5, 2021
Firpo is the worst signing since Brolin.
— Yorkshire Man (@_Wood76) December 5, 2021
Firpo defending is utterly shambolic

Can we get a refund for Firpo? Come on Leeds #LEEBRE

Junior Firpo is the most out of depth footballer I’ve ever seen in a Leeds shirt.
