Brentford travel to Elland Road for Leeds United clash
Premier League newcomers Brentford travel to Elland Road to take on last year’s feel-good story Leeds United, with the pair separated by just a single point one-third of the way through the season.
Brentford have enjoyed some great results, including a 2-0 opening day win over Arsenal, as well as a 3-3 draw with Liverpool earlier in the season in a game that either side could have picked up three points in.
The Bees, who have impressed under Thomas Frank, named their lineup earlier today, and there was a conspicuous absentee.

The man in question? Joint top scorer Ivan Toney, who is a figurehead for the London club.
It means that first-choice strikers for both sides are missing, with Patrick Bamford still sidelined for the hosts with injury.
But, how serious is Toney’s absence?

Now an explanation has been forthcoming for the Englishman’s absence, and it is relatively straightforward.
Toney has returned a positive test for Covid-19, and therefore could not take part in today’s game.

With a game against Watford coming up on Friday, and then a clash with Manchester United the following Tuesday, it will likely be touch and go as to whether or not the Brentford man will be able to take part in either clash.
Should he develop complications or suffer symptoms, he could take more time to return to full fitness too, and with six games in December for Thomas Frank’s side, that could have serious implications on their survival hopes.
