Barcelona blow as insight provided into Bayern Munich’s plans for Champions League clash

Spanish giants Barcelona will no doubt be left altogether concerned by the latest word surrounding the plans of Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, ahead of the two clubs’ heavyweight showdown this week.

CL fate on the line

Xavi Hernandez is of course set to lead his Barca troops back into action this coming Wednesday.

After slipping to a concerning La Liga defeat at the hands of Real Betis 48 hours ago, the Blaugrana will turn their attentions back towards matters on the continent, in a Champions League group stage clash with Bundesliga champions Bayern.

Barcelona head to the Allianz Arena in the knowledge that they cannot really afford to slip up, amid the club’s efforts to book a spot in the knockout rounds of European football’s elite club competition.

This comes with the Catalans, as things stand, sitting 2nd in the Group E table.

Benfica, however, sit just two points back of Xavi and co., meaning a defeat in Germany, coupled with a Benfica triumph up against bottom-of-the-table Dynamo Kiev, would condemn the Blaugrana to the Europa League.

Nagelsmann’s plans

One key source of hope for Barcelona in the buildup to Wednesday’s clash, of course, had come in the form of the predicted below-strength XI set to be fielded by their upcoming opponents.

After all, Bayern have long secured table-topping status in Group E, owing to a perfect record of five wins from five.

If the latest word stemming from the German media on Monday evening is anything to go by, however, then the visitors to Bavaria could be in for something of a reality check in two days’ time.

As per a report from the generally reliable Sport Bild, Julian Nagelsmann is not planning a major shake-up to his first-choice line-up.

Instead, just two potential changes appear to be on the cards, with Marc Roca and Jamal Musiala tipped to step in for Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane respectively.

This means that the likes of Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski are all expected to feature from the off versus Barca.
