Arsenal come unstuck against Everton
For many Arsenal fans, their performance at Everton was the worst of the season.
The Gunners actually took the lead late in a very drab first half courtesy of a goal from Martin Odegaard, his second in two games, as he shinned home a Kieran Tierney cross.
However, they failed to capitalise, and could not find a foothold in the game despite having the majority of the possession, and were stung late in the piece.
First Richarlison, who had already seen two goals ruled out for marginal offside, reacted fastest to Demarai Gray’s shot coming back off the crossbar to nod in an equaliser.
Then, in stoppage time, Gray stepped up once more, striking from outside the box as the ball ricocheted off the inside of the post and past Aaron Ramsdale’s despairing dive.
What a horrible couple of games. Two leads, no points. Arsenal’s ability to lurch from relatively smooth sailing to crisis mode is unmatched. This always looked like a big few days, Arsenal put themselves in a position to seize the initiative, but threw it away. So disappointing.

So where did it go wrong?
Odegaard highlights massive flaw in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal
Speaking after the game, Martin Odegaard was understandably downcast, after falling to defeat to a side that had previously not won in eight games.
Arsenal’s goalscorer was quizzed on mentality, and was quick to underline the biggest issue with his side. The Norwegian claimed:
“When you’re leading 1-0 you get a little bit afraid to lose the win and, in my opinion, that’s what we did wrong today.
“We have to keep on playing and go for the second one, and that was always the intention but we didn’t manage to do it on the pitch, so that’s a shame.
Odegaard continued:
“I think, in my opinion, we stopped doing what we had to do. We stopped playing football after we got the lead, especially in the second half.
