Doku aiming for Premier League move
Stade Rennais’ Belgian international starlet Jérémy Doku threw fresh speculation on his immediate future in Brittany after admitting that he is ‘working hard’ with the view of eventually plying his trade in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old Antwerp-native has come to life since his move to Ligue 1 in 2020 from Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht and has earned a place in Roberto Martínez’s Belgian national team setup which included Doku playing an influential role at Euro 2020.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Doku – who has been on the Reds’ radar since 2018 according to Belgian outlet Het Niewsblad – is now targeting his next port of call on English shores as he reflected on former interest from Liverpool;
“I want to do everything to become one of the best players in the world, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, in the English Premier League if possible. And I am working hard for that.
Everyone talks about Liverpool because it was the most concrete interest but there was also Arsenal and Chelsea. I preferred to be careful. I know what my trajectory had to be. I know what route I needed to take and I knew at that moment I needed to stay at Anderlecht.
As soon as I’m asked if I regret it, I always say no, because if Liverpool came to me at 15, if they like me, they’ll come back later, that’s certain. It’s up to me to be play well.”
Liverpool eyeing long-term options in the forward line
Jérémy Doku is not the only young Ligue 1 forward that Liverpool is keeping tabs on, as the rest continue to harbor a credible interest in LOSC Lille’s Canadian starlet Jonathan David.

David is having a breakout season of his own this term after he has hit 11-goals in 17-appearances for Lille in the league this season, prompting a potential transfer battle between Liverpool and Arsenal after the club said he would not be available for anything less than €55million.

Like David, Doku would fit the profile of a talented young player who could come into Liverpool and offer quality as a depth option at current while working their way into the first team moving forward.
Liverpool can realistically rely on just four first-team attacking players in Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino. Additional depth is needed both at current but also with the understanding that it is likely the club will inevitable lose one of the four players, leaving the door open for a move for an asset such as Jérémy Doku to settle into life at Liverpool without massive pressure while also learning from arguably the best front-three in England.
