Modric tests negative again, while Marcelo gets his first negative

Following the COVID-19 outbreak at Real Madrid, there seems to be some respite with Luka Modric testing negative again and Marcelo also showing a negative result in the latest round of testing.

Modric and Marcelo were the first two players who were ruled out last week due to the virus, though the Croatian had already tested negative before Real Madrid travelled to Bilbao. Now he is negative for the second time.

There is also good news for the likes of Gareth Bale, Rodrygo, David Alaba and assistant Davide Ancelotti, who also posted negative test results on Thursday morning.

With Real Madrid next in action against Getafe on January 2, at miniumum, Modric and Marcelo should be available to coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Marco Asensio, Andriy Lunin and Isco are still waiting for their test negative result.

Real Madrid have asked their players to be especially careful during the Christmas holidays, and have advised they not leave Madrid. If they must, then it should be done with extreme measures so that there are no problems with the PCR test on December 28, when the team return to training.
