The home support in attendance at Tottenham Hotspur’s meeting with Morecambe this afternoon were keen to make their frustrations with Tanguy Ndombele crystal clear, after the Frenchman was hauled off by Antonio Conte.
Winks spares blushes
The Lilywhites are of course locked in action at present.
After slipping to an altogether disappointing defeat at the hands of capital rivals Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup during the week, Conte’s troops, on Sunday, turned their attentions towards the FA Cup, in a 3rd round meeting with League One outfit Morecambe.
A straightforward return to winning ways was widely predicted ahead of kick-off, despite Spurs having opted for a whole host of changes on the day.
In turn, it came as nothing short of a shock when, just beyond the half-hour mark in proceedings, it was the visitors who opened the scoring, courtesy of Anthony O’Connor:
HUGE upset on the cards as Morecambe’s Anthony O’Connor gives them the lead at Tottenham.
State of that defending 😬

Tottenham, to their credit, have since gone on to level things up through Harry Winks’ dipping set-piece delivery, but, if the atmosphere inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the lead up to the equaliser was anything to go by, then, evidently, the damage had long been done.
Did he mean it? 🤔

*Update* – Further goals from Lucas Moura and Harry Kane have since turned the clash firmly on its head.
Ndombele targeted
After booing Conte’s men, as a collective, off the field of play at half-time, the Spurs faithful, 20 minutes from time, opted to aim their frustrations firmly in the direction of one man in particular.
The player in question? Tanguy Ndombele.
In just the latest low amid a hugely underwhelming stint in north London to date, Ndombele, after showcasing little to no urgency in trudging off with his side a goal down, was met by a loud chorus of boos on the part of the home support in attendance.
The Frenchman, from here, made his way straight down the tunnel, culminating in widespread suggestions that he may finally have played his final game in Tottenham’s colours:
#thfc Loud boos around the stadium as Ndombele walks off very, very slowly after being replaced by Kane. He went straight down the tunnel. That felt..terminal…
