Newcastle looking for a striker and a defender
Newcastle United are desperate to strengthen their squad this January, having won just once in the Premier League this season and currently sitting in the relegation zone.
Under their new mega-wealthy owners, relegation to the Championship would be a massive blow to their hopes of making the Magpies competitive again in the near future.
As a result, they are on the hunt for a new striker, with a long list reportedly already being worked through at St James’ Park, that varies from in-form Patrick Schick to Burnley’s Chris Wood.

They are also keen on another defender, although they have reached an impasse with Lille over Sven Botman.

But, there are still other areas to be addressed too, and in that regard, Newcastle have been dealt another transfer blow.
Midfielder advances knocked back
Ibrahim Sangare, formerly of Toulouse and now plying his trade for PSV, has been on the radar of many Premier League clubs in recent years, and now seems to have found his way onto Newcastle’s.
As per the Daily Mail, the Magpies would be keen on bringing the Ivorian to north-east England this January as they look to beef up their squad to avoid the drop.

However, this deal seems to be over before it’s truly begun, with multiple Dutch sources claiming that PSV will not be letting the Ivorian leave this January under any circumstances.
And while money talks in football, it seems PSV have chosen not to listen.
