Leeds United defender Robin Koch feels positive about the future of his teammate, Raphinha, after delivering an update regarding the Whites superstar.
Raphinha has been one of Leeds’ most influential figures this season. If not for him they would surely be in a much worse position than their current 16th place in the Premier League.
Indeed, the Brazilian has torn the league up since his arrival at Elland Road in 2020, especially this season.
The tricky winger has registered eight goals and one assist for the Whites this term, and is comfortably their top scorer.
In fact, only three players have scored more than Raphinha’s eight Premier League goals this season. Of course, having such an effect on the Premier League has gained him major admiration.
Liverpool have been reported to be interested in the Brazilian, as have Bayern Munich. The interest from the Bundesliga champions caused quite the stir.
However, Whites star Koch has given an update regarding his teammate, which should give Leeds hope.
“I am happy that he didn‘t ask me about Bundesliga,” he said via Inside Futbol.
Of course, the German played with Freiburg in the Bundesliga, before joining Leeds in 2020. Raphinha would have likely consulted with Koch should his reported move to Bayern have been both genuine, and of real interest to him.
“So I hope he will stay at Leeds,” Koch added.
Indeed, everyone associated with Leeds will hope the red-hot winger remains at the club for the foreseeable future. However, speculation is not likely to desist should he remain in such good touch.
Muriqi could join Raphinha in Leeds attack
While Leeds are hopeful Raphinha will stay put, they are also looking to add some quality alongside him in the forward line.
The West Yorkshire side are reportedly keen on Vedat Muriqi from Lazio. While Muriqi’s Lazio scoring record – two goals in 43 appearances – does not make for good reading, Leeds will hope they can get him firing in the Premier League.
However, the positive about that potential signing is that it will likely be a loan, meaning if he does not hit the ground running, Leeds have not wasted any cash.
Indeed, loans will likely make up the bulk of the Whites dealings in January, given they are on the limit of Financial Fair Play regulations.
