Southampton predicted lineup vs Wolves – Premier League

Southampton travel to Wolves on Saturday afternoon, facing a side in just as rich a vein of form as themselves.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men followed up a 3-2 extra-time win against Swansea with a 4-1 thrashing of Brentford in midweek, making it three wins in the previous four while remaining unbeaten in five. With that momentum behind them, however, they’ll still have to overcome Bruno Lage’s Wolves, who have also won three of their previous four and sit eighth in the table.

Expected to maintain the 3-5-2 formation that worked so well in midweek, here’s the side that Hasenhuttl could field.

Fraser Forster (GK) – Alex McCarthy will likely remain out of contention through injury, so Forster should continue to deputise.

Lyanco (CB) – Returned from a bout of Covid-19 to start against Brentford last time out and did well enough to have earned another appearance here.

Jan Bednarek (CB) – With three goals in his previous five Premier League appearances, the big Pole is such a threat from set-pieces.

Mohammed Salisu (CB) – Enjoying a good campaign, having started all but one of the Saints’ league fixtures this term.

Nathan Tella (RWB) – Tino Livramento would surely start in the tailor-made wing-back role but, in his continued absence, Tella should retain his place.

Oriol Romeu (CM) – A really consistent presence at the heart of the side and, following a good display last time out, will inevitably start in midfield.

James Ward-Prowse (CM) – Undeniably one of the Premier League’s top performers this term, the Portsmouth-born Southampton captain will obviously start once more here.

Ibrahima Diallo (CM) – Was excellent against Brentford in midweek and will look to build on the assist he grabbed as he surely starts once again.

Romain Perraud (LWB) – Should start at left wing-back once more after a busy display last time out.

Che Adams (ST) – Replaced the underwhelming Adam Armstrong to score a goal last time out – everything points to an Adams start here.

Armando Broja (ST) – Sustained a slight knock against Brentford but should be fine to play against Wolves, searching for a sixth league goal of the campaign following a wonderful performance last time out.
