Watford could boost their survival hopes in the Premier League as they travel to face Newcastle in a crunch relegation showdown.
Last weekend’s 4-1 defeat to Leicester in the FA Cup condemned Watford to their seventh straight defeat under Claudio Ranieri, form which can usually spell the end of the road for a Hornets manager.
The Italian will be in charge this weekend, however, and he will hope to put some daylight between his side and the relegation zone with victory.
Here’s how Watford could line up.
Daniel Bachmann (GK) – The Austrian has failed to impress in the absence of Ben Foster.
Jeremy Ngakia (RB) – The 21-year-old is an energetic presence down the right-hand side.
Craig Cathcart (CB) – The 32-year-old’s experience will be crucial in Watford’s fight to stave off relegation.
Francisco Sierralta (CB) – The Chilean is Watford’s most reliable defender when fit.
James Morris (LB) – Watford are short at full-back with Adam Masina having jetted off to the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ken Sema (RM) – A direct winger who will trouble Newcastle with his explosive pace.
Moussa Sissoko (CM) – The Hornets’ best player this season and a driving force in midfield.
Tom Cleverley (CM) – Has a nice blend of ball-winning and quality on the ball in this Hornets midfield.
Joao Pedro (LM) – The Brazilian’s trickery and creativity are vital to this Watford side.
Emmanuel Dennis (ST) – Watford will hope their decision not to sanction Dennis’ trip to the Africa Cup of Nations will bear fruit this weekend.
Josh King (ST) – A hat-trick at Goodison Park earlier this season and he could be the go-to man at St. James’ Park.
