Leandro Paredes’ stance on Tottenham swap with Tanguy Ndombele revealed

Paris Saint-Germain star Leandro Paredes has little interest in making the move to Tottenham Hotspur this month, it has been revealed.

The last 24 hours have of course seen the name of Argentine midfielder Paredes take its place front and centre in the headlines. This comes amid suggestions that the former AS Roma man could be included in an exchange deal between PSG and Spurs.

In one direction would head Tanguy Ndombele, very much on the outside looking in in north London under Antonio Conte at present.

And Paredes, in turn, was tipped as a makeweight to head the other way, with some outlets having gone as far as to suggest that a direct swap, without the need for added finances, could be on the cards.

If the latest word stemming from the French media on Friday is anything to go by, however, then such a transfer coming to fruition looks altogether unlikely.

This comes with an insight having been provided into Paredes’ stance on a potential move to the English capital.

As per transfer journalist Julien Maynard, the 27-year-old has no interest in linking up with Antonio Conte’s squad, ruling out the chances of an Ndombele-based exchange.

Not only that, but it is added that none of the current crop of midfield talent at the Parc des Princes would be keen on the prospect of a Spurs switch.

PSG woes

Argentine international Paredes has endured a disappointing campaign in Paris to date.

The former Zenit St. Petersburg standout, a more deep-lying option to Ndombele, has managed just four Ligue 1 starts, owing to a combination of fitness struggles and competition for places.

A move away from PSG, in turn, appeared to make sense, with a chance to slot into the base of Tottenham’s midfield under Conte an enticing one.

Paredes, however, evidently feels as though he is best served looking elsewhere, having previously admitted his regret with not taking up the opportunity to link up with Serie A heavyweights Juventus.
