Lingard’s mysterious tweet: Will he play for Manchester United again?

Jesse Lingard was expected to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window, but the England international has stayed at Old Trafford. He is currently enjoying a few days off, though, with the club having advised him to take a break.

With Lingard given a breather at such a busy stage of the season, this has sparked speculation about what is really going on behind the scenes.

A tweet from the 29-year-old hasn’t cleared the situation up either, instead producing even more theories.

“The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons!” he said, with an explanation mark, as if he were addressing some of the rumours.

“But, my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 percent.”

Lingard returned to Old Trafford in the summer after a loan with West Ham, but has accumulated just 273 minutes for the Red Devils so far in 2021/22. His contract expires at the end of the current campaign and it remains to be seen if he’ll make many or any more appearances for the club.
