Details: Chelsea receive ‘significantly improved’ offer to buy club from Roman Abramovich

A new-and-improved big-money proposal to take Chelsea Football Club off the hands of Roman Abramovich has been tabled, according to reports.

The bid, as per The Telegraph, comes by way of London businessman and known lifelong Blues supporter Nick Candy.

Candy, long tipped as amongst the frontrunners to take up the reins at Stamford Bridge over the coming weeks, moved ahead with his first offer to the Raine Group last Friday.

Having evidently seen such efforts come up short of Chelsea’s valuation, though, the property tycoon sought out fresh funding, since provided by South Korean investors Hana Financial Group and C&P Sports Group.

A new proposal, worth ‘significantly’ more than £2 billion, in turn, was made official earlier today:

”Nick Candy has improved his British-led bid to buy Chelsea Football Club following the addition of another large international backer to his Blue Football Consortium”, a spokesperson for Candy confirmed.

”Mr Candy submitted a bid of more than £2billion to The Raine Group last Friday but has now increased this significantly after another large Korean financial institution joined his consortium over the weekend.”

”Proof of the additional funds has been sent to The Raine Group.”

Those overseeing the sale of Chelsea are expected to come to a decision over their final shortlist of potential buyers over the next 24 hours.

Gallagher to sit out

Turning attentions away from developments behind the scenes and back towards the pitch, Chelsea, on Sunday, of course discovered their upcoming opponents in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

After making short work of Championship outfit Middlesbrough in the club’s last-8 tie, Thomas Tuchel’s troops were rewarded for their efforts with a London derby showdown with Crystal Palace.

The hopes of the Pensioners of booking their spot in the tournament’s showpiece, meanwhile, were further boosted by confirmation on Sunday night that Conor Gallagher, currently in the midst of a starring loan spell with Palace, will be ineligible to feature in next month’s Wembley clash.
