It will take time for Mason Mount to forget Saturday’s FA Cup final against Liverpool.
The England midfielder missed the penalty that ultimately handed Jurgen Klopp‘s side the 2021/22 FA Cup.
When Konstantinos Tsimikas scored the final kick, Mount must have been wondering what he had done wrong to make Wembley hate him so much.
This FA Cup final is the sixth in three years that Mount has lost at the iconic stadium. The first came when the youngster was on loan from Chelsea at Derby County in the Championship. There, he reached the promotion play-off final, but Aston Villa beat Derby 2-1 at the football temple.
Next on the unwanted list was the 2020 FA Cup final, which he lost 2-1 to Arsenal as a Chelsea player.
In 2021, Mount lost the FA Cup final at Wembley against Leicester, this time 1-0, as well as the final of the European Championship with England, on penalties against Italy.
This year, in 2022, he has lost at Wembley in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals, both to Liverpool and both on penalties.
This takes his total to six finals played at Wembley, and six defeats.
