Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of AS Roma hitman, Tammy Abraham.

Arsenal are currently in the market for a new striker and have been linked with a move for Tammy in recent weeks.

Abraham made the switch to Serie A last summer after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel and he has since taken the Italian top-flight by storm, netting 26 times for Roma across all competitions – the most of any player in their debut season for the club.

Given his current form, it is easy to see why Arsenal would want to sign him.

The north Londoners did show interest in Abraham before his switch to Italy but, of course, missed out and have since had to spend most of the 2021/22 season with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as their striker options.

The pair have seriously struggled for goals and are also both set to become free agents this summer, leaving Arsenal with a large void to fill up top.

However, it does not look as though they will be filling that gap with Abraham.

Speaking after netting a brace in Roma’s final Serie A game of the season on Friday, the striker poured cold water on rumours linking him with a  move back to the Premier League this summer.

“I love this club,” Abraham told DAZN on the matter of a possible future move back to England.

“They’ve given me the opportunity to show myself, my heart is here. We’ll see what the future holds, but my heart is here.

“Like I’ve always said, I fell in love with this club from the first day and I will always help the team as much as possible with my goals and assists. It’s been a good year for me, I hope to build on this year and hopefully we can finish with a trophy and it can be the perfect year.”
