The president of the World Boxing Association, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, presents the honorary world champion belt to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Mendoza met with the national president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, on Monday june 6th in the city of Caracas.
Mendoza and Maduro addressed various issues related to Venezuelan and world boxing, in addition to deepening the plan that has begun in this country for the realization of evenings and the development of the sport in all areas.
They will do projects to help the boxers
One of the important topics was the safety of fighters and former fighters. Mendoza proposed a pension plan that would ensure a benefit for boxing glories once they retire and allow their inclusion in society in various ways.
They also talked about the objective of implementing social projects to use sports as a channel for self-improvement and to help young people in their development.
Mendoza thanked Maduro for his support
The meeting was attended by the Venezuelan super featherweight world champion, Roger Gutiérrez and the deputy director of the WBA Championships Committee, Julio Thyme.
Mendoza and Maduro described the meeting as productive and the leader of the pioneer organization recognized the politician for his support to sports and boxing specifically.
