Deshaun Watson‘s professional future continues to hang in the balance, pending the latest developments in the NFL’s now-completed investigation.
Many are wondering what will happen to the quarterback and recent addition to the Cleveland Browns, following recent lawsuits he received from two masseuses.
Browns’ decision on Watson contract
Although, to the player’s relief, the franchise has no plans to void his current contract. The organization remains aware of the possible suspension, but his contract situation is not in jeopardy, reports Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
From within the organization, they report, they have no plans to take any special action at this time despite recent developments.
Sports Illustrated further reports that the franchise has not been influenced to act against the quarterback, despite the situation he is currently in.
Deshaun Watson is guaranteed a 5-year, $230 million contract. This figure makes him the player with the highest guaranteed contract in the NFL today.
The quarterback faces 24 sexual misconduct lawsuits. Watson allegedly held sessions with several female masseuses. They alleged that they were sexually harassed.
Watson takes aim in Instagram post
On Tuesday, an article was published in the New York Times, repeatedly outlining first-hand stories from Watson’s accusers.
But Watson didn’t sit silently while the stories built around him. Instead, he posted on Instagram, screenshooting lyrics from Lil Durk’s ‘Rich Off Pain’.
The lyrics read: “See, the blogs can’t break me down, see, I’m the voice, I don’t reply but the rumours y’all done hear, I’ma humbly deny, yeah, yeah.”
While the NFL are still considering what action they can or should take against Watson, the football world have wasted no time in getting involved.
One Twitter user labelled Watson an “unrepentant psychopath“, adding that his behaviour since the accusations surfaced has been “legitimately unnerving“.
