Floyd Mayweather clarifies if Gervonta Davis is leaving or staying with his promoter

Floyd Mayweather Jr. used the press conference he held to promote his September exhibition fight against Mikuru Asakura to discuss the relationship with Gervonta Davis.

“Money” tucked Davis in his promoter ‘Mayweather Promotions’, from a young age he opened doors for him, supported him, trained with him and took him to become world champion.

But after defeating Rolando Romero, Gervonta let it be known that it was very possible that he would leave Floyd’s company.

“It’s about becoming that man, handling my own responsibility, my own priorities. So I feel like it’s my career, so I feel like I have to be the one in control of my career. And it’s time,” Davis told the Last Stand podcast.

The news would not have gone down well with ‘Mayweather Promotions’, but apparently Floyd already spoke with Gervonta and everything was settled.

“I love ‘Tank,’ he loves me. We have a great relationship and we’re happy. We always want to stay positive.”

“The media always asks negative questions. So, we’re not talking about anything negative. We’re talking about things that are positive. ‘Tank’ I love you. We talk every day. Keep up a good job and I’m proud of him,” Mayweather said.
