Powerful Gesture

Wisdom Cole is the NAACP’s national director of youth and college, and he organized the panel where the five students were honored by the Get Lucky singer while Cole mentioned that the ‘powerful’ gesture is a testament and example of what would happen if President Joe Biden would opt to condone student debt for the whole country.

It is disproportionate for Black youth

Cole also mentioned that “Pharrell forever changed their lives. This was a powerful moment, Now imagine if President Biden made this a reality for all student debt holders in America. Student debt continues to disproportionately plague the Black community and crush opportunities for so many Black people. It is time to reduce the racial wealth gap, it is time for President Biden to fulfill his promise.”

A decision needs to be made soon

US president Biden has been speaking about this option for quite some time however there hasn’t been much traction, he was set to determine whether or not he’d cancel student debt, and sources close to Biden say that he will probably make a decision in July or August, he has until August 31st which is when the suspension of the debt payment ends.
