American and world No.7 Coco Gauff will meet British tennis player Emma Raducanu in the second round of the Australian Open.
Gauff proceeded with ease on the first day of the Grand Slam, passing Czech Katerina Siniakova in straight sets on Rod Laver Arena.
The 18-year-old defeated her opponent 6-1 6-4 and is looking to reach past her previous fourth round exit at the 2020 Australian Open.
Her opponent, Raducanu, also won in straight sets against Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch.
The 2021 US Open winner was impressive in her opening match, advancing to the next round with a 6-3 6-2 victory at the 1573 Arena.
Gauff starts the match as red-hot favourite but Raducanu should not be overlooked as a potential upset.

Coco Gauff (USA) vs. Emma Raducanu (GBR) form and betting trends
Gauff has started 2023 in fine fashion, winning the ASB Classic in the first week of January.
The American didn’t drop a set throughout the entire tournament and was dominant in the final against Spain’s Rebeka Masarova.
At her last Grand Slam, Gauff reached the quarters at the 2022 US Open and went down to Caroline Garcia at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
However, the 18-year-old has jumped into the top 10 of the world rankings and would be looking to improve her position early in the year.
Raducanu’s preparations for the Australian Open has been limited after battling a wrist injury in the later part of the 2022 season.
The 2021 US Open champion was forced to pull out of her round of 16 match-up at the ASB Classic due to the ankle injury she suffered during the game and was in doubt to compete at the Melbourne Precinct.
Prior to the tournament in Auckland, Raducanu made the semis in the Korean Open in September and the round of 16 at the Slovenian Open.
However, the British tennis player failed to defend her title at the US Open, bowing out uncharacteristically early in the first round to Alize Cornet.
Gauff’s current form has most punters tipping her to advance to the third round but Raducanu has started her campaign impressively.
Coco Gauff (USA) vs. Emma Raducanu (GBR) head-to-head results
This round two match-up will be the first time Gauff and Raducanu will play against each other.
Coco Gauff (USA) vs. Emma Raducanu (GBR) preview and prediction
A win in the second round could set either of these players up for a deep run at the Australian Open given the current draw.
With a relatively clean run the pair are more than capable of making the quarter finals, where world No.1 Iga Swiatek will likely be waiting.
Gauff comes in as red-hot favourite after some stellar form shown early in 2023.
The American blitzed through the first round with ease and will look to continue her impressive start against Raducanu.
However, the British tennis player will be no easy feat despite lingering injury issues that hindered her 2022.
Raducanu has faced a limited preparation to the 2023 Australian Open, battling a recent ankle injury that forced a walkover during the ASB Classic.
The tennis sensation has also had an immensely frustrating run of problems since winning US Open 2021.
Dealing with blistered fingers and back problems, Raducanu is entering the Grand Slam more underdone than her opponent.
Prediction: Gauff to defeat Raducanu in straight sets.
