Report: Lakers’ Westbrook, Ham have ‘heated’ argument at halftime vs. Thunder

On a record-breaking night in Los Angeles, there was an issue in the Lakers locker room, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Wojnarowski says star point guard Russell Westbrook and coach Darvin Ham got into a “brief, heated verbal exchange” at halftime of the Lakers’ 133-130 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The ESPN insider says Ham was frustrated with how Westbrook lingered on the floor as he got subbed out in the second quarter.

The two sides seemed to put their differences aside later as Westrbook scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and finished the game. He had 27 points and eight assists on the evening.

The dispute came on a night Lakers star LeBron James set the NBA’s all-time scoring record.

Wojnarowski says Westbrook and Ham had a more positive discussion afterward.

Westbrook, who has been mentioned in trade rumours heading into Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, is averaging 15.9 points, 7.5 assists and 6.2 rebounds this season for a Lakers team that sits 13th in the Western Conference standings.

A nine-time all-star, Westbrook also was NBA MVP in 2016-17 as a member of the Thunder.
