Flames outshoot Sabres 34-9 after dominant second period


The Calgary Flames put on a dominant display in the shot column during the first two periods of their game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

After 40 minutes of play, the Flames outshot the Sabres 34-9 as they opened up a 4-2 lead heading into the final frame.

Trailing 2-0 going into the second period, Calgary capitalized on abundance of chances, scoring four unanswered goals in just over five minutes of game time.

One of those tallies was netted by Flames rookie Jakob Pelletier – the first goal of his NHL career.
