The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenceman Mikey Anderson to an eight-year extension worth $4.125 million per season, the team announced Wednesday.
Anderson, currently on a one-year deal worth $1 million, was a pending restricted free agent before signing the extension.
“We’re excited to have a player of Mikey Anderson’s calibre signed to the Kings long-term,” Kings vice president and general manager Rob Blake said in a statement. “Mikey has not only developed into a trusted, shut-down player on the ice, but a well-respected individual in the room that we envision continuing to grow into our leadership core.”
The 23-year-old has two goals and 11 assists through 55 games in his fourth season in Los Angeles.
The Kings selected Anderson 103rd overall in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Anderson played two seasons in the NCAA for the University of Minnesota-Duluth before joining the Kings.
