The San Diego Padres and Manny Machado are finalizing an 11-year, $350 million contract extension, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.
Machado made it known that he was going to opt out of his contract at the end of the 2023 season. The 30-year-old is set to make $30 million this season.
The Padres originally signed the all-star infielder to a 10-year, $300 million deal back in 2019.
Machado slashed .298/.366/.531 with 32 homer runs and 102 RBI in 150 games last season. Since joiining the Padres, Machado has hit 108 home runs, driven in 340 runs, and stolen 32 bases.
In 11 MLB seasons with San Diego, the Baltimore Orioles, and Los Angeles Dodgers, Machado has 283 homers, 853 RBI, 839 runs scored, and 85 steals.
