Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will miss the upcoming World Baseball Classic with right knee inflammation, the team has announced.
Guerrero Jr. had an MRI Friday night which revealed no structural concerns in his knee.
The Dominican star was set to feature prominently on a team with aspirations of winning its second-ever title at the tournament.
Guerrero Jr. pulled up to second base awkwardly in Friday afternoon’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays after registering a hit in the first inning and was removed from the game shortly thereafter.
