NCAA tournament Field of 68 projections
No. 1 seeds
*Kansas (25-6, 13-4 Big 12)
Resume: Net: 7, KenPom: 9. The Jayhawks have piled up an NCAA-best 15 victories in Quad 1, and a 10th Big 12 tournament championship under Bill Self would clinch the No. 1 overall seed.
*Houston (29-2, 17-1 American)
Resume: Net: 1, KenPom: 1. The Cougars have a compelling case for the No. 1 overall seed. A 3-1 record against Quad 1 opponents means Houston likely will have to prove it in the NCAA tournament.
*Alabama (26-5, 16-2 SEC)
Resume: Net: 2, KenPom: 3. The Crimson Tide have nine Quad 1 victories and the No. 1 seed in the SEC tournament. Alabama was 11-5 on the road; a factor worth considering ahead of the neutral-site tournament.
*UCLA (27-4, 18-2 Pac-12)
Resume: Net: 4, KenPom: 2. The Bruins’ 82-73 victory against Arizona bumps them up to the No. 1 line. UCLA has 16 victories between Quads 1-2, which is one more than Purdue.
No. 2 seeds
*Purdue (26-5, 15-5 Big Ten)
Resume: Net: 5, KenPom: 6. The Boilermakers split their last six games, which opened the door for UCLA. Purdue could still get a No. 1 seed with a run in the Big Ten tournament.
Texas (23-8, 12-6 Big 12)
Resume: Net: 10, KenPom: 8. The Longhorns beat Kansas 75-59 on Saturday and improved to 15-8 against teams in Quads 1-2.
Baylor (22-9, 11-7 Big 12)
Resume: Net: 12, KenPom: 14. The Bears have an almost-identical resume to the Longhorns. Baylor is 15-9 against Quads 1-2. This might get settled at the Big 12 tournament.
Arizona (25-6, 14-6 Pac-12)
Resume: Net: 11, KenPom: 11. Arizona has eight Quad 1 victories; same as UCLA. The Wildcats split two regular-season meetings with the Bruins. Will there be a rubber match in the Pac-12 tournament?
No. 3 seeds
*Marquette (25-6, 17-3 Big East)
Resume: Net: 13, KenPom: 13. Marquette takes a six-game winning streak into the Big East tournament and is very much in the mix for a No. 2 seed.
+Gonzaga (28-5, 14-2 WCC)
Resume: Net: 9, KenPom: 10. The Bulldogs beat Saint Mary’s 77-51 in the West Coast Conference championship game and are a dangerous team in this tournament.
Kansas State (23-8, 11-7 Big 12)
Resume: Net: 17, KenPom: 18. The Wildcats have nine Quad 1 victories and just one loss in Quads 2-4. That likely will keep them on this line no matter what happens in the conference tournament.
Xavier (23-8, 15-5 Big East)
Resume: Net: 22, KenPom: 16. The Musketeers fit well on this line despite the bad news that leading rebounder Zach Freemantle will not return this season. They have seven Quad 1 victories and swept the regular-season series with UConn.
No. 4 seeds
UConn (24-7, 13-7 Big East)
Resume: Net: 6, KenPom: 4. The Huskies are 18-1 outside of Quad 1, and that pairs well with their Net/KenPom combination.
Tennessee (22-9, 11-7 SEC)
Resume: Net: 3, KenPom: 5. The Vols are 10-9 in Quads 1-2, but it has been a gradual slide to a No. 4 seed. The Volunteers are 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Indiana (21-10, 12-8 Big Ten)
Resume: Net: 28, KenPom: 30. The Hoosiers split their last six games, but they finished with a much-needed 75-73 overtime victory against Michigan.
*Virginia (23-6, 15-5 ACC)
Resume: Net: 30, KenPom: 36. The Cavaliers split the ACC regular-season championship with Miami. Virginia split its last four games.

Texas A&M (23-8, 15-3 SEC)
Resume: Net: 23, KenPom: 24. The Aggies have pieced together a phenomenal season in conference play, and the season-ending victory against Alabama was a nice topper.
Duke (23-8, 14-6 ACC)
Resume: Net: 25, KenPom: 31. Duke closed the season with six straight victories. Will that weigh more than a 10-8 record in Quads 1-2?
Saint Mary’s (26-7, 14-2 WCC)
Resume: Net: 8, KenPom: 7. The Gaels lost 77-51 to Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference championship game, which could lead to a one-seed drop over the weekend.
No. 6 seeds
TCU (20-11, 9-9 Big 12)
Resume: Net: 28, KenPom: 25. The Horned Frogs have won three of their last four, and the victory against Texas likely makes them a lock to stay on this line.
Kentucky (21-10, 12-6 SEC)
Resume: Net: 20, KenPom: 21. The Wildcats have firmed up their seeding, and they are a candidate to bump up a line with a strong showing in the SEC tournament.
Creighton (20-11, 14-6 Big East)
Resume: Net: 14, KenPom: 12. The Blue Jays closed the regular season with victories against Georgetown and DePaul, and they have a strong Net/KenPom combination on top of that.
*San Diego State (24-6, 15-3 MWC)
Resume: Net: 16, KenPom: 15. A 66-60 loss at Boise State knocked the Aztecs down a line, and it remains to be seen how much the committee will respect the Mountain West Conference.
No. 7 seeds
Iowa State (18-12, 9-9 Big 12)
Resume: Net: 19, KenPom: 22. The Big 12 strength of schedule is a plus, and the Cyclones got back on track with a 73-58 victory against Baylor on Saturday.
Northwestern (21-10, 12-8 Big Ten)
Resume: Net: 38, KenPom: 43. The Wildcats held a 6-5 record in Quad 1, and they have the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten tournament.
Michigan State (19-11, 11-8 Big Ten)

Missouri (22-8, 11-7 SEC)
Resume: Net: 48, KenPom: 55. The Tigers have the lowest ranking combination of any SEC team in the field, but they are safe given the strong conference record.
Maryland (20-11, 11-9 Big Ten)
Resume: Net: 26, KenPom: 20. The Terps are in, but those season-ending losses to Ohio State and Penn State left little wiggle room to move up.
Providence (21-10, 13-7 Big East)
Resume: Net: 52, KenPom: 44. The Friars’ schedule rankings aren’t great, but a strong showing in the Big East is enough of a separator to keep them on this line.
