Winless Rebels upset Waratahs in ‘crazy game’

Waratahs replacement Taleni Seu has galloped away for an eye-catching try that will at least give NSW a bonus point as Tane Edmed converts from the sideline.

But it is the night of the Rebels, who have notched their first win of the season, 34-27 at AAMI Park.

Both clubs are now 1-2.

“That’ll give us belief that we can shake up the competition a bit. They’re a good side, the Waratahs,” Rebels captain Brad Wilkin said.

“We finally put together a near complete performance,” Rebels centre Stacey Ili added.

“Relief – the last couple of games we’ve been there but just couldn’t get it.”

Waratahs captain Jake Gordon is very disappointed.

“We’re better than that,” Gordon said.
