Previously preparing for a world title fight against Jermell Charlo, Tim Tszyu must re-secure his shot against Tony Harrison on March 11. If he can defeat a former champion in Harrison, Tszyu’s goal for gold will continue.
Tszyu headlines an event at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. The hometown hero is the son of the former undisputed super-lightweight champion Kostya Tszyu.
Winning multiple local titles in Australia, Tszyu has beaten former world champion Jeff Horn and Dennis Hogan. In his most recent outing, last March, Tszyu handled Terrell Gausha via unanimous decision. He was supposed to fight Charlo before the latter backed out due to injury.
In the prime of his career, Kostya beat the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez and Zab Judah. The 28-year-old believes he has grown as a fighter and has all the momentum heading into the fight. It started when he was younger and progressed as he became confident in his abilities.

“I know when I was growing up, my dad was an army sergeant with the way he approached life, and I’m times two to how he was,” Tszyu stated via Boxing Scene. “The funny thing is that as the rounds go up and up and up, I feel like I don’t get tired. My breathing’s on point, and everything’s just running smoothly. Right now, I feel like I could run over anyone, and it’s a good position and feeling to have, especially leading up to such a big fight.”
Harrison is a former WBC super-welterweight champion, beating Charlo for the belt in 2019. Losing it in a rematch, he has gone 1-0-1 since then. “Super Bad” now has a golden opportunity to potentially enter a trilogy fight with Charlo with a win over Tszyu.
