Scoot Henderson, one of the top prospects for the upcoming NBA Draft, has been shut down for the season by the G League Ignite, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reports.
The Ignite have five games remaining in the season and are longshots to make the playoffs so Henderson is being shut down out of precaution for the draft, Givony adds.
Henderson, a six-foot-two guard, averaged 17.2 points, 6.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 19 G League games this season.
The 19-year-old is ranked second on many pre-draft boards behind French centre Victor Wembanyama.
The G League Ignite is a team made up of potential NBA prospects looking for an alternative to the NCAA ahead of the draft. It was founded in 2020 and features a roster of both prospects and veteran players, playing out of Henderson, NV.
This season the Ignite have an 11-15 record and are 10th in the G League’s Western Conference.
