Roosters pounce on disgruntled Eel’s signature

The Roosters have pounced on one-time State of Origin forward Nathan Brown to bolster their premiership tilt.

Already considered a top title contender this year, the Chooks have now added fiery star Nathan Brown to the roster.

Parramatta released the 30-year-old on Tuesday, and hours later the Tricolours confirmed his signing for the remainder of the 2023 season.

As a result of his incoming, Tuku Hau Tapuha has been released by the Bondi club.

Brown has played 109 of his 138 NRL games for the Eels, but only played 14 games last year.

Rumours of a rift with coach Brad Arthur simmered for weeks, and made his shock recall to the grand final team all the more strange.

Parramatta had told Brown – who played two Origin games for New South Wales in 2020 – in June he was free to leave the club, then he was dropped by Arthur.

His arrival at Moore Park will add extra grunt to a forward pack already boasting the addition of Brandon Smith this year.

The Chooks were stunned by the Dolphins in round one but bounce back to beat the Warriors.

Brown has not been named in the Tricolours team to take on South Sydney this Friday.
