PSG vs Newcastle lineups, starting 11s, team news for Champions League match: No Zaire-Emery against Magpies

Newcastle United head to Paris Saint-Germain for a crucial Champions League clash on November 28 with the Magpies looking to keep alive their hopes of reaching the Round of 16.

Despite cruising to a 4-1 win over the Parisians at St. James’ Park in October, Eddie Howe’s side have faltered since then, with successive defeats to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Ahead of this fixture, Newcastle have four points from four games, and defeat in Paris would end their chances of a knockout-stage spot in 2024.

A draw or win would keep them in contention going into the final group match against AC Milan on December 13, but Howe is fighting against an expanding injury list on Tyneside.

PSG vs Newcastle lineups

PSG could stick with an unchanged team from their impressive 5-2 weekend Ligue 1 win over rivals Monaco. Warren Zaire-Emery and Marquinhos are both missing for the hosts, but talisman Kylian Mbappe, already on 16 goals across all competitions this season, is available.

Newcastle’s injury situation means Howe could also be forced to stick with the same team on the back of a morale-boosting 4-1 Premier League win over Chelsea.

With Sean Longstaff struggling to recover in time, 17-year-old Lewis Miley could retain his starting spot in midfield, alongside Brazilian pair Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.

Below are the projected starting lineups for both teams ahead of their Champions League match at the Parc des Princes on November 28.

PSG starting 11

(4-3-3): Donnarumma (GK) — Hakimi, Skriniar, Hernandez, Mukiele — Ruiz, Ugarte, Vitinha — Dembele, Ramos, Mbappe.

  • Injured: Zaire-Emery, Marquinhos, Navas, Kimpembe, Mendes.
  • Suspended: None

Luis Enrique has tweaked his team in between Ligue 1 and Champions League games before, but he looks settled on his line up, with Ousmane Dembele scoring his first goal for the club against Monaco in a performance that will almost certainly keep him in the side.

Newcastle starting 11

(4-3-3): Pope (GK) — Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Livramento — Miley, Guimaraes, Joelinton — Almiron, Isak, Gordon.

  • Injured: Murphy, Burn, Wilson, Anderson, Botman, Barnes, Willock, Manquillo, Targett, Longstaff (doubtful), Kraft (doubtful).
  • Suspended: Tonali

Howe’s options are heavily restricted by injuries ahead of this game but their performance against Chelsea will have given him confidence over his starting team.

Lewis Hall is back in contention after being ineligible to face parent club Chelsea, but he is also struggling with a minor knock.
