How many goals does Cristiano Ronaldo have for Portugal?

Cristiano Ronaldo is the all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international football with an outrageous record of 128 goals in 205 senior appearances for Portugal.

Ronaldo broke the long-standing goal record that was held by Iran’s Ali Daei when he bagged a brace against Republic of Ireland in September 2021.

Ronaldo’s 205 caps for Portugal also put him at the top of international football’s all-time appearance list, ahead of Kuwait star Bader Al-Mutawa who has played 196 times for his country.

Ronaldo already has 15 league goals in just 13 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, as he looks to push Al Nassr towards a title charge in the Saudi Pro League, the AFC Champions League, as well as a number of goals in the pre-season Arab Club Champions Cup tournament.

In total, Ronaldo has 867 goals for all his clubs, plus international appearances, which — although hotly contested — many believe makes him the most prolific goalscorer in the history of the game.

Will Cristiano Ronaldo play at Euro 2024?

Ronaldo says he has no plans to retire from Portugal action, despite the fact he’ll be 39 by the time Euro 2024 kicks off in Germany.

He’s hinted he could keep playing into his 40s, but will continually assess his own situation for club and country.

He recently said: “Things have happened in my life, both on a personal and professional level, that make me think more in the short term nowadays.

“People say I’m going to play on until I’m 40 or 41 years old. I don’t set these targets. It’s a question of just enjoying the moment, which is a good moment. I feel good. My body is responding to how I’ve treated it over the years.

“I’m happy both at my club and in the Selecao. I’ve scored plenty of goals, I feel in good shape physically. It’s a question of enjoying the moment.”
