USA record at Copa America: How many times has USMNT been in tournament and have they ever won?

The 2024 Copa America sees a return of the competition to the USA for the first time since 2016.

As the competition continues to expand, the USMNT have been a key driving force in bringing more CONCACAF nations into it, with the 2016 centenary edition the first time the tournament was held outside of a CONMEBOL country.

However, despite their strides in this competition and on the world stage, the USMNT are still finding their Copa America feet, up against the established sides of South America.

The Sporting News looks at the USMNT’s historical record at the Copa America including titles won, games and player records.

Have USMNT qualified for Copa America 2024?

All 10 members of CONMEBOL qualified for the 2024 Copa America automatically and they are joined by six CONCACAF nations to complete the final 16 teams.

The USMNT sealed a spot at the tournament, via their push to the 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League semifinals, with all four teams in the semifinals progressing to the Copa.

The semifinals have paired the USMNT against Jamaica, with Panama facing Mexico in March 2024.

Alongside those games, there will be two Copa America playoffs to decide the remaining spots, with Canada up against Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras facing Costa Rica.
