What time is Devin Haney vs Regis Prograis today? Schedule, main card start time for 2023 boxing fight

Devin Haney moves up a weight class to take on the best at super lightweight in Regis Prograis on December 9. The latter’s WBC super lightweight title is up for grabs in the Chase Center in San Fransisco. The fight airs on DAZN PPV in the U.S.

It is the first fight at super lightweight for Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion. “The Dream” has competed within the lightweight division throughout his career and beat George Kambosos Jr. in 2022 to win all the gold. His last fight was a close win against Vasiliy Lomachenko in May.

A surgical boxer, Haney is known to outlast his opponents while countering their every move. He believes that will give him the edge against what he calls a one-dimensional Prograis.

“You’re a one-trick pony, you can’t do nothing,” Haney said in a Matchroom Boxing Face Off video via Bad Left Hook. “In his fights, he does the same thing over and over. And when that s— don’t work everything goes out the window; he don’t know what to do, he’s lost. He ain’t fixing to do nothing different than he been doing. He ain’t gonna learn no new moves. He been doing the same thing his whole career, it’s nothing he can go in the gym to go work on and go change. Even if he go work in the gym, on fight night, he gonna do the same thing he been doing.”

Prograis has won five in a row since he lost against Josh Taylor in 2019 for super lightweight gold. He knocked out Jose Zepeda for the WBC title and edged Danielito Zorrilla to retain the belt. “Rougarou” has 24 wins via knockout and believes he can easily hurt Haney at any point in the fight.

“I’m bigger, stronger, faster than you, everything. My defense —everything is better than you,” Prograis said to ESNews via Boxing Scene. “He gotta play the long game. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m ready for 12 rounds. I’mma beat the f— out of him for 12 rounds. As long as that s— lasts. But him, he gotta last 12 rounds because he ain’t got no knockout power. I can knock n—– the f— out whenever the f— I want.”
