What channel is Saints vs. Rams on today? Schedule, time for NFL’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ in Week 16

This week’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup could decide who makes the NFC playoffs between the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams. Both teams are 7-7, and need every win they can snag at the end of the year. The Saints have a shot at the NFC South title or a wildcard spot, while the Rams will shoot for a wildcard berth because of their deficit in the NFC West.

While the quarterbacks for either side – Derek Carr and Matthew Stafford – are playing at a high level recently, the running backs should be featured prominently as well for different reasons.

The Saints failed to break the 100-yard rushing mark in their past two wins and average only 126 yards on the ground per game, but running back Alvin Kamara is a dual-threat player who himself averages nearly 100 yards of offense. He racked up 110 scoreless yards this past week against the New York Giants and tallied 164 total yards and three rushing touchdowns in the previous two games.

The Rams rank in top-11 in rushing yards and touchdowns, and running back Kyren Williams has been on a tear since he returned from an early season injury in Week 11. Williams has rushed for more than 114 yards in three of the team’s past four games and totaled 497 yards and two touchdowns on 89 careers. He also caught 17 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns during that span.

Defensively, both sides rank middle-of-the-pack in stopping the run. New Orleans has allowed the 25th-most rushing yards this season but only nine rushing touchdowns (eighth in the league) while Los Angeles has given up the 14th-most rushing yards and rushing touchdowns this season. If the passing game stops working for either team, the running game could be the play in this one.
