Fantasy Football Lineup Advice Week 16: Ace your start-or-sit decisions with RotoBaller’s “Who to Start?” tool

Whether you’re limping into the second round of the fantasy football playoffs or you breezed through the first round without much of a fight, everyone starts at zero this week. Fortunately, the experts at RotoBaller are here to help your lineups by giving Sporting News Fantasy readers free access to their exclusive “Who to Start?” advice tool to help with your Week 16 fantasy start ’em, sit ’em decisions.

How does the “Who to Start?” tool work? Simple: Choose up to four players to compare below, pick your league settings in the upper right corner (PPR, half-PPR, standard), and push “Who to Start?” It’s that easy. From there, you’ll get a lineup recommendation based on RotoBaller’s award-winning rankings and projections.

Injuries and a spread-out schedule will force fantasy owners to be on their toes this week, especially with some key, banged-up RBs not playing until Monday. Depending on your projection, it might be better to go with a lower-ceiling, “safe” play earlier in the week, but there are no good answers in these situations.

As always, RotoBaller factored in usage, matchups, and talent into its Week 16 rankings, and it’s reflected in its “Who to Start?” tool. Check out an example from each offensive position.

Advice below is based on full-point PPR leagues

Start or Sit?: Week 16 fantasy QB lineup advice from RotoBaller

Jordan Love (@ CAR) vs. Geno Smith (@ TEN) vs. Kyler Murray (@ CHI) vs. Baker Mayfield (vs. JAX)

Mayfield and Smith have better matchups, but RotoBaller still gives Murray the nod here. The dual-threat QB always has a high floor and ceiling, and Chicago’s pass defense still has plenty of issues, which we saw Joe Flacco expose last week. Smith, who should return from his groin injury this week, is next on this list, several spots behind Murray and one spot ahead of Love. He has arguably the best weapons, so he should be solid against Tennessee’s wilting defense.

Start or Sit?: Week 16 fantasy RB lineup advice from RotoBaller

Jerome Ford (@ HOU) vs. Gus Edwards (@ SF) vs. Javonte Williams (vs. NE) vs. Chuba Hubbard (vs. GB)

Williams is the biggest name, and he’s also the highest ranked of this group. A tough matchup awaits, but RotoBaller still thinks he has the most upside. He’s several spots ahead of Hubbard, who will likely have the most touches in a favorable matchup. Ford and Edwards are a few spots behind, with Edwards losing a little bit of value in PPR formats.

Start or Sit?: Week 16 fantasy WR lineup advice from RotoBaller

Noah Brown (vs. CLE) vs. Jakobi Meyers (@ KC) vs. Drake London (vs. IND) vs. Jordan Addison (vs. DET)

RotoBaller thinks Addison can follow up his big Week 15 with another solid game, ranking him one spot ahead of Meyers, who also had a big Week 15. He’s one spot ahead of London, who’s always unpredictable. Brown is several spots back, likely because C.J. Stroud (concussion) is expected to be out again. All four of these receivers can have a big game, but Addison is in the best overall spot.

Start or Sit?: Week 16 fantasy TE lineup advice from RotoBaller

Isaiah Likely (@ SF) vs. Dallas Goedert (vs. NYG) vs. George Kittle (vs. BAL) vs. Kyle Pitts (vs. IND)

Pitts has by far the best matchup on paper, but RotoBaller is clearly fed up with his disappearing acts, ranking him well below the other three. Kittle gets the nod by a couple of spots over the surging Likely, which is fair given Kittle’s more established floor. Goedert is right behind Likely despite failing to do much in his first two games since returning from the IR.
