Nick Kyrgios commentary at Australian Open 2024: Aussie star to work for Eurosport, discovery+ and ESPN

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios will provide commentary at Australian Open 2024 for multiple broadcasters – including Eurosport, discovery+ and ESPN.

In November last year, the Australian made his commentary debut for the Tennis Channel during the ATP Finals in Turin.

With Kyrgios absent from Australian Open 2024 with injury, the 28-year-old will still be involved in the major via the broadcasting booth.

Who is Nick Kyrgios providing commentary for at the Australian Open?

European broadcasters Eurosport and discovery+ announced Kyrgios will provide commentary for them at Australian Open 2024.

While ESPN has also confirmed he will be a part of their North American coverage throughout the major.

The enigmatic star is booked to commentate from Eurosport’s on-site commentary booth to provide his insight into the current players and the tournament.

A special camera stream of Kyrgios will also be provided for discovery+ and Eurosport App subscribers.

Kyrgios indicated he would be commentating at the Australian Open when he withdrew from the tournament with injury.

“Even though I won’t be there competing this year at the AO, I still will be around, commentating matches, being around, I’ve got some special things planned, so please be excited still,” he said.

“You know I’ll be there and hopefully see all the fans, I’ll see you there.”

How to watch Nick Kyrgios’ Australian Open commentary

Kyrgios’ analysis and special comments will be able via the Eurosport and discovery+ platforms in 50 European markets.

While, ESPN’s broadcasts with Kyrgios will only be available in North America.

Viewers from Australia  will not be able view Kyrgios’ commentary via their Australian Open broadcasters.

What is Nick Kyrgios’ injury?

Kyrgios has only played one competitive singles match since being forced to withdraw from the quarter-final of the Japan Open with a knee injury in October 2022.

The knee complaint failed to improve throughout 2022 and Kyrgios was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open 2023 to undergo surgery.

Kyrgios targeted a return to tennis at Wimbledon 2023, but after losing to China’s Yibing Wu at a warm-up tournament in Stuttgart, he withdrew from the All-England Club with a wrist injury.

When is Australian Open 2024?

Australian Open 2024 will commence on Sunday, January 14 and become a 15-day event for the first time, finishing on Sunday, January 28.
