What channel is 76ers vs. Kings on tonight? Time, TV schedule, live stream for Friday NBA game

Two teams headed in opposite directions face off tonight between the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings.

The 76ers return to Philadelphia after a dramatic overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday – their third consecutive loss and five in their past eight games. The Kings, meanwhile, have won two consecutive games and six of their past eight matches.

The hope for Philadelphia is that reigning MVP Joel Embiid can return tonight after he missed the past two games with knee swelling. Guard Tyrese Maxey has filled in nicely as the team’s No. 1 scoring option after he scored 35 points against the Hawks, but Embiid’s absence has been frustrating for a team without much frontcourt depth.

Sacramento has been rolling along with their duo of Keegan Murray up top and Domantas Sabonis down low. The duo scored 49 points combined in the Kings’ win over the Charlotte Hornets and then 69 points combined in their win over the Detroit Pistons. Point guard D’Aaron Fox has also been a force for Sacramento, with 45 points in his past two games as well.

This game will look a lot different if Embiid suits up. The 76ers are 21-6 when their star center players this season and 2-7 when he doesn’t. Even more: Philadelphia averages 7.4 fewer rebounds per game without Embiid and 11 fewer points per game. Embiid would be a huge matchup for Sabonis as well. Otherwise, the Sixers would turn to some combination of Tobias Harris and Paul Reed to contend with the Kings’ big man.

The Kings have proven to be formidable in their own right. Sacramento ranks eighth in scoring this season with 118.2 points per game, while Philadelphia ranks sixth with 119.9 points per game. The 76ers have the edge on defense though, as they allow just 112.1 points per game – 12th in the league – while the Kings allow 117.2 points per game (21st in the league).

This is the first match of the season between these two sides. A win for Sacramento would help them keep pace with the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers, while Philadelphia has a lot of ground to catch up to overtake the Boston Celtics in the Atlantic Division.
