Does Peacock have a free trial? Explaining price options to watch NFL’s Chiefs vs. Dolphins playoff game

Cash rules everything around the NFL, including the right for viewers to actually access playoff games.

Peacock, NBC’s preeminent streaming platform, will exclusively broadcast one of this weekend’s wild-card games. Its selection of choice? Chiefs vs. Dolphins, perhaps the highest-profile of all the matchups to occur in the first round.

It’s a move certain to frustrate large portions of the league’s fanbase. After all, wasn’t the purpose of streaming to give consumers the power to access any broadcast they want, wrestling power back to them after decades of mismanagement by cable companies? At least, that’s what we were led to believe.

No matter, though. At least Peacock is easily accessible to all, right? It has to be, doesn’t it? The NFL wouldn’t paywall some of its marquee stars to appease the interests of a multibillion-dollar conglomerate…would it?

Oh boy, do we have a tale for you. Here’s what you need to know as Peacock prepares to host one of the league’s most anticipated postseason matchups, Kansas City vs. Miami.

Does Peacock have a free trial?

No, of course not! Peacock doesn’t offer prospective subscribers a free trial. That would ruin the illusion of choice! Nope, folks looking to watch matchups on Peacock will have to shell out some money every month to do so.

Peacock streaming prices

Peacock offers two streaming options: Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus. Peacock Premium is the base plan. It can be renewed monthly for a cost of $5.99 or yearly at a lump sum cost of $59.99.

Peacock Premium Plus offers users the opportunity to access Peacock programming with a diminished number of ads. To purchase this, subscribers will have to shell out $11.99 a month or $119.99 a year.

Why is today’s NFL playoff game only on Peacock?

Because capitalism, silly! The powers that be at Peacock reportedly paid the NFL $110 million to carry the baton for one exclusive postseason broadcast. That their choice features some of the league’s biggest names, including Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce (and by proxy, Taylor Swift), was simply up to chance.
