What time is Lions vs. Rams on today? TV channel, schedule for NFL playoff wild card game

The NFL couldn’t have scripted this matchup any better. Not only will this be the Lions’ first home playoff game since 1993, but it will also be a matchup of former Lions and Rams quarterbacks.

That is storyline is right out of Hollywood. And, oddly enough, the trade that sent Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles and Jared Goff to Detroit in 2021 actually worked out for both clubs. The Rams won a Super Bowl that same year, while the Lions used the draft picks to build a team that became a division champion.

Detroit ranked fifth in scoring this year behind Goff, two electric running backs in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta broke out as well, but he hyperextended his knee and suffered a bone bruise in Week 18. His status for Sunday night’s contest will be closely monitored.

The Rams weren’t expected to compete this season, but they showed that veteran players surrounded by young talent can be a good recipe to return to the postseason.

Stafford looks as good as ever, and wide receiver Cooper Kupp remains an elite pass-catching threat. Puka Nacua set multiple rookie receiving records this season, while second-year running back Kyren Williams finished third in rushing yards.
