Senegal vs. Guinea prediction, odds, expert football betting tips and best bets for African Cup of Nations

With both sides already owning a place in the knockout stage, Senegal and Guinea battle for control of Group C as they meet in the African Cup of Nations group finale in Yamoussoukro.

Senegal have won both matches to date, one of the only pre-tournament favourites to remain without a slip thus far. Guinea have four points after defeating Gambia and drawing with Cameroon.

Regardless of this result, Senegal are confirmed through as a top-two finisher thanks to their pair of victories, but winning the group would theoretically give them a slightly simpler pathway. Guinea, meanwhile, could theoretically drop to third if they lose here while Cameroon win and make up the goal differential deficit, but it seems more likely that they will finish in the top two as well.

Both sides have conceded just a single goal through their first two games, but Senegal have bagged a whopping six goals of their own thus far, led by Sadio Mane who has a goal and assist thus far.

Guinea vs Senegal prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Senegal (+140)
  • Score prediction: Guinea 1-2 Senegal

Senegal have already secured a top-two spot in Group C, but they will know that at least a point here confirms their status as group winners, an important distinction for the Round of 16 which would see them matched up against a third-place finisher.

They will want to keep the goal form alive, having scored six goals thus far on 19 shots, including a three-goal output last time out despite just five shots against Cameroon’s defensive setup. Both sides have conceded just one goal thus far, but Guinea were under pressure against Cameroon in the 1-1 draw, and should have scored more against Gambia, so there’s the possibility that both sides can find the net here.

Guinea vs Senegal: best bet

While African Cup of Nations matches can sometimes get bogged down in defensive battles, the value on the over here is just too juicy to pass up, especially in a match featuring Senegal, whose six goals are the most of any team in the competition through the first two matches.

Sadio Mane was electric in the first game, and while he remained far quieter in the second before his late goal, his teammates stepped up to chip in. Ismaila Sarr shouldered the load on the opposite wing while Mane was quieted, and Habib Diallo remains dangerous as a central striker.

It’s possible that both sides coast through this game knowing a point keeps the status quo alive regardless of the other game’s result, but the value here is just too high to ignore, and with both teams knowing they still have something to gain from a win, they may decide to throw numbers forward also aware that there’s very little to lose.

Guinea vs Senegal prop bet

  • Pick: Sadio Mane to score or assist a goal
  • Odds: +145 (FanDuel)

While Sadio Mane’s +280 anytime goal scorer odds are hard to pass up for this more muted selection, he’s not been as heavily involved in front of goal as necessary to justify backing him to find the net here.

The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star came into this tournament in poor club form with Al Nassr, and while he has a pair of goal contributions so far, he remains a low-volume output at this point. Still, Mane is the biggest threat on this prolific Senegal attack, and he does well to make the most of his opportunities, whether they be in the chance creation or finishing department.
