Kenshiro Teraji vs. Carlos Canizales fight date, start time, card & odds for 2024 boxing fight

Two world title fights highlight Top Rank’s return to Japan on January 23. In the main event, Kenshiro Teraji defends the WBA, WBC, and The Ring light flyweight titles against Carlos Canizales. The event airs on ESPN+ in the U.S.

The son of former Japanese boxing star Hisashi Teraji, Kenshiro had over 50 wins in the amateurs before turning pro in 2014. “The Amazing Boy” defeated Ganigan Lopez in 2017 for the WBC light flyweight title and made eight defenses before losing to Masamichi Yabuki in 2021. Since then, Teraji has avenged the Yabuki setback to reclaim the title and beat Hiroto Kyoguchi to add the WBA belt to his collection. His last fight was a TKO win in September against Hekkie Budler.

Teraji hopes to face WBO champion Jonathan Gonzalez, who got sick before they could clash in 2023.

Canizales turned pro in 2014. “CCC” fought Ryoichi Taguchi to a draw in 2016 for the WBA light flyweight title but captured it in 2018 against Reiya Konishi. The Venezuelan lost the belt against Esteban Bermudez in 2021 and has since won four in a row. His last contest was a win in June against Daniel Matellon.
