Travis Kelce moves Chiefs teammates to tears with ‘powerful’ Super Bowl 58 pregame speech

Travis Kelce is best known for his accomplishments on the football field as the Chiefs’ star tight end. He’s also known for his budding romance with pop star Taylor Swift.

Yet while all of that matters, so do the intangibles of who he is as a player. And he couldn’t be better in that department, especially when it comes to motivating his teammates, as he proved in a “powerful” pregame speech the night before Super Bowl 58.

Kelce joined quarterback Patrick Mahomes and defensive tackle Chris Jones in addressing the Chiefs at the team hotel Saturday night ahead of the big game against the 49ers.

The 34-year-old tight end in particular earned rave reviews for his speech, though there are no public recordings or quotes from it just yet. But it’s certainly going to be worth a listen if Kansas City gets the victory at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

One coach called Kelce’s speech the best he has heard, NFL insider Albert Breer reported.

“Not even close,” the coach told Breer. “The best talk or speech I’ve ever heard.”

People in the room also referred to the speech as “unbelievable” and “powerful,” per Breer.

And this isn’t the first time the Kelce brothers have been commended on their pregame speeches.

Eagles center Jason Kelce’s raw emotion came through when he spoke to his team ahead of Super Bowl 57, when his Eagles went up against his brother’s Chiefs.

While the Eagles lost, 38-35, Kelce’s speech lives on. Here’s a look at that moment, which was included in the “Kelce” documentary released in September 2023.

Will Travis Kelce’s inspiration be enough to push the Chiefs over the 49ers on Sunday? It’s obviously going to take a lot more than that, but there’s no question the team will be playing with some fire behind it.
