Nottingham Forest vs Man United live score, result, updates, highlights, lineups from FA Cup 5th round

Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their last-minute home defeat to Fulham at the weekend as they travel to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup 5th round.

The FA Cup is the last opportunity for United to win silverware this season as they’re nowhere near competing for the Premier League and have been knocked out of Europe entirely. They also failed to defend their Carabao Cup trophy after being picked apart by Newcastle in the early stages.

Erik ten Hag is once again under pressure, making tonight a must-win clash, ahead of an ever tougher test at the weekend – the Manchester derby.

The Sporting News is following Nottingham Forest vs Man United live, providing score updates, commentary and highlights as they happen.

Nottingham Forest vs Man United live updates, highlights, and commentary

78th minute: Murillo drills an effort along the surface and Onana collects with ease.

71st minute: Fernandes’ long-range shot dribbles along the ground into the hands of Turner.

67th minute: Garnacho cuts the ball back to Fernandes who this time attempts to pass it past Turner and McTominay tries to redirect the ball to the other corner but it’s narrowly wide.

63rd minute: Fernandes tries the trivela from the right but it’s a fair way over the bar.

58th minute: Rashford is brought down in the box and the referee waves play on. Murillo shoves him in the side of the ribs and the Englishman seeks treatment.

52nd minute: Onana is called into action again! Origi’s trickery beats Lindelof but he shoots straight at the United keeper who punches away.

50th minute: Good save from Onana to deny Awoniyi, who should have scored.

49th minute: Amrabat once again gives the ball away cheaply, this time on the halfway line.

46th minute: We’re back underway at the City Ground!

HT: That’s it for the first half! There have been chances in front of goal for both teams but especially the visitors. Ten Hag will be desperate for them to take advantage in the second half.

45th minute: Casemiro scoops a shot. That would have been a converted field goal in the NFL… wrong type of football though!

42nd minute: Neco Williams slices a strike high over the bar.

41st minute: McTominay has another go from distance but it’s blocked. Alan Shearer has just said on commentary: “I don’t mind that from McTominay, at least he’s trying to have a pop instead of just passing to someone else.”

33rd minute: Another nice combination between McTominay and Dalot and this time the Scot tests Turner, but he makes a good diving save to deny United the lead.

30th minute: Sir Alex is sat next to Dave Brailsford and David Gill at the City Ground this evening.

19th minute: It’s a half chance for United as McTominay’s cross is deflected into Rashford’s path. He tries his luck but it’s fired over the bar.

14th minute: United’s initial dominance to start the match has diminished as Forest grow into the game.

8th minute: A glorious opportunity for United, again. Dalot picks out McTominay from the right, in identical fashion to his winner at Villa Park earlier in the month, but this time the Scotsman’s header is straight at Turner. He had the entire goal to aim at.

4th minute: OFF THE BAR! It’s a really well-worked corner routine and Fernandes picks out Antony who smashes a strike off the bar. He desperately needed that to go in.

1st minute: We’re underway!

15 mins prior to kickoff: The atmosphere is building nicely inside the City Ground. Kickoff is next.

45 mins prior to kickoff: We’ve just had the draw for the quarter-finals and if United were to beat Forest tonight they would play the winner of Liverpool-Southampton at Old Trafford. That could be tasty! But first, they must get past Forest this evening.

1 hour prior to kickoff: Here are the teams! Mainoo is on the bench for United but Fernandes starts, as does Varane.

1 hour 30 mins prior to kickoff: The team news is going to be an interesting one this evening with Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane both doubts, however, the pair have arrived at the City Ground. We’ll be bringing you live team news as we have it.

2 hours prior to kickoff: Last time out against United for Forest…
