Jerry Jones paternity test, explained: Cowboys owner ordered to submit DNA test in Alexandra Davis lawsuit

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is being ordered by a judge to take a paternity test as the result of a lawsuit from a woman claiming to be his daughter.

The decision comes on the footsteps of a hearing earlier this month, according to documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News

Jones, 81, has been the owner of the Cowboys since 1989. He purchased the team from Bum Bright for $140 million, and the team is currently valued at $9 billion, according to Forbes. That makes the organization the highest-valued team in the NFL.

Jerry Jones paternity test

Jones was the subject of a 2022 lawsuit brought upon by a woman named Alexandra Davis.

The 27-year-old claims to be the daughter of Jones, who had a relationship with her mother, Cynthia Davis, during the mid-90s. The court documents state that an agreement was reached between Jones and Davis’ mother to provide her with financial support, though he would not publicly acknowledge that he was Alexandra’s father.

In the documents, Davis said that her mother’s ex-husband is not her father, which was confirmed through genetic testing.

“Alex is in a position where she really no longer has to hide her truth or live under the thumb of fear, and maybe she’s going to finally get some peace, and we hope other families will have that same benefit from the judge following the law,” Davis’ attorney Kris Hayes said.

In addition to the 2022 lawsuit, Davis also sued the Cowboys owner in 2023 for defamation. She claimed that Jones and two others made deliberate attempts to call her out as an “extortionist” and “shakedown artist.”

The case was refiled to the courts in November of last year after being partially dismissed in October.
