What channel is Lakers vs. Thunder on tonight? Time, TV schedule, live stream for Monday NBA game

The Thunder are battling for the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference, while the Lakers are just looking to stay in the playoff race when the teams meet on Monday in Los Angeles.

Just over a year after he set the NBA’s all-time scoring record, Lakers forward LeBron James just became the first player in league history to score 40,000 points. James reached that milestone after finishing with 26 points in a 124-114 loss to the Nuggets on Saturday.

The Lakers are dealing with several key injuries to their frontcourt with Christian Wood dealing with a left knee injury and Colin Castleton out with a fractured right wrist.

To help boost the lineup, Los Angeles signed the 6-foot-11 Harry Giles III, who agreed to a two-way contract. In a corresponding move, the Lakers waived guard Dylan Windler.

Giles, who was a first-round pick from Duke in 2017, has also played for the  Kings, Trail Blazers and Nets after being out of the NBA for two years. Brooklyn waived him last month after Giles averaged just 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 5.1 minutes over 16 games.

The Lakers are the only team with only 21 games left to play, but they have the fourth-easiest schedule, according to NBA.com. The Lakers have a league-high four breaks of two days or more and they’re just two games into a stretch where they’re playing 11 of 12 at home.

The Thunder are rolling and have been one of the best teams in the NBA throughout most of the regular season. They are poised to make their first playoff appearance since 2020.

Oklahoma City is also bringing reinforcements for its playoff run by bring back veteran center Mike Muscala, who spent four seasons with the Thunder from 2019 to 2023 before he was traded to the Celtics. Muscala also played for the Wizards and Pistons this season, averaging 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds this season. He’s shot 31.8% from 3 on 2.3 attempts.

The Thunder had a vacant roster spot after waiving Aleksej Pokusevski.
