What channel is Arizona vs. Long Beach State on today? Time, TV schedule for 2024 March Madness Round 1 game

Arizona returned to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive season under head coach Tommy Lloyd. The Wildcats will once again be a No. 2 seed and face No. 15 seed Long Beach State in the first round.

A new face leads Arizona this season. Former North Carolina guard Caleb Love transferred to Arizona this season and leads the Wildcats with 18.1 points per game and a 42.1% shooting percentage.

Arizona comes into the tournament with one of the best all-around offensive teams in the country. The Wildcats had the third-best offense that averaged 87.9 points per game during the year, the third-best rebounding squad that averaged 42.6 boards per contest and a top-25 shooting percentage team from the floor and from the 3-point line.

Long Beach State, meanwhile, will make its first tournament appearance since 2012. The strangest part about the Beach — yes, that’s their nickname — is that the team agreed to separate from head coach Dan Monson after the season before they won the Big West conference tournament for an automatic bid to the tournament.

The Beach averaged only two points more than it scored per game this year — 77.7 vs. 75.7 allowed. Long Beach shoots a lot, too, with the fourth-most 2-point field goal attempts on the season with 44.2 per game. However, the Beach only shoot 44.7% from the field, which ranks outside the top-150.

Senior guard Marcus Tsohonis is the player to watch for the Beach. He lead the team with 17.8 points per game this year, including 21.0 over his past five contests. He and Love should be a great matchup in the opening round of the tournament.

The NCAA West regional game between Arizona vs. Long Beach State is set to tip off at 2 p.m. ET from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This is the second consecutive year Arizona entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Wildcats lost in the first round to No. 15 Princeton in one of the biggest upsets of the 2023 tournament.

Arizona made the Sweet 16 round in 2022 and last won the NCAA championship in 1997.

Long Beach State hasn’t been to the NCAA tournament since 2012. This is the fifth time the Beach have made the Big Dance since the field expanded to its current formed in 1985. It’s the lowest seed they’ve ever received, though. Long Beach has never won an NCAA tournament game, either.
